Rodah Ndungu

MSc in Chemical Engineering (University of Nottingham, UK)
What attracted me to IMI's Global Graduate Development programme (GGD) is the multitude of international opportunities and the plan to develop my managerial and business discipline competencies, all whilst gaining valuable engineering related experience within five very different business platforms.

I started at IMI in 2007 as a Marketing Assistant Intern with Artform International and then continued on in this appointment as I successfully qualified for the GGD. I then proceeded into a Supply Chain role at Norgren in Germany, followed by Business Development with Cornelius USA, and finally in a Quality Control role with Buschjost in Germany. During my time in these roles, I have developed many skills in areas such as marketing and field research, business communications, supplier negotiations, customer relations, change management, strategic awareness, process optimisation, project management and team leadership, to name a few. I have also improved my networking abilities and have built a strong network across most of IMI’s business platforms.

Since joining IMI, I have learnt that the Company has many diverse applications in well-known brands, as well as a clear commitment towards talent and people development, whilst encouraging high levels of knowledge cross-fertilization across all businesses. I have benefitted from key training delivered within the IMI businesses, such as Health & Safety, finance, project management, German language, ASME Code training and audit management. I have also been given real responsibility and been trusted with strategic projects, as well as having the privilege of working with senior managers within the Group. IMI has a great vision in providing the Engineering Advantage that customers are looking for, whilst speaking their language and encouraging engineering excellence within the workforce.

IMI has offered me a great career, personal development opportunities and the international exposure of working with many cultures and different languages. I am constantly challenged to further myself as I engage with different people, teams and disciplines, whilst not being confined to any specific engineering stovepipe.
