The summer of 2011 is proving to be a fast paced and dynamic period for the people of Norgren with the relocation of high volume production lines from Terrassa, Spain to Shanghai, China - a total of 6000 miles.
Sebastian Schweers, an IMI plc post Graduate, is leading a multinational team charged with moving the production of high-volume products closer to the main emerging markets whilst lowering production costs and opening up development opportunities. Sebastian commented, “50% of Norgren’s production output should be visible from the new low cost manufacturing facilities and in a very short timeframe.” With an ambitious target to complete the project by October 2011 ensuring it occurs correctly involves not only the data transfer, but building entirely new production lines. It is anticipated that the reliable local supply chain of quality components in Shanghai will enable a quicker delivery and a faster manufacture of products. “I have absolute autonomy over this project, from the initial plan right through the execution and I really enjoy this responsibility, especially in a project as fast- moving and dynamic.” said Sebastian.
