Fu joined the graduate programme in 2015, and is currently working with IMI Precision Engineering in Singapore.
“I’m currently working at IMI Precision Engineering in Singapore –the HQ of the APAC area, working closely with other countries such as China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. My job is to standardise control panel specifications in South East Asia. A typical day might include modifying the Bill of Materials (BOM) system, making drawings, and calling suppliers for quotations and purchases. Sometimes I also go out to meet customers.
“My contribution to the business is tangible: my control panel SOP will be implemented in South East Asia once completed. Moreover, the job is taking me out of my comfort zone. Starting out as a quiet, shy person, I’m now confident talking to suppliers and expressing ideas to customers.
“The people here in the Singapore office are also fantastic. Both my mentor and line manager are very committed to Graduate development and have give me great support since the start of my placement. And the working culture here is open and friendly – colleagues are very patient and ready to answer my questions.”
