CCI solution helps waste disposal plant reduce downtime

Requirement: Using steam conditioning valves to convert domestic rubbish into power, AMSA were experiencing higher levels of downtime due to unplanned maintenance caused by valves vibrating in the turbine bypass system. Vibration was causing unplanned outages due to positioner and linkage failure.

Solution: CCI’s aftermarket team presented the Fastrak positioner and actuator upgrade as the perfect solution to improve the dynamic performance of the system. After a quick installation period, the plant now operates for an additional 2 hours per month which not only helps to make the waste disposal process more efficient, but also enables them to handle an additional 100 tons per month. The return on investment for the customer was less than a calendar month and the increase in availability means an extra 1GW/year can be produced.
