17 December 2008 - IMI plc retirement of non-executive director

IMI plc, the major international engineering solutions business, announces that Lance Browne, who has been a non-executive director of IMI since 2005, has decided to retire from the Board with effect from 31 December 2008.  Lance will remain as Chairman of the IMI China Advisory Board, which he helped to establish in 2005, and will continue to provide valuable support to the Group’s activities in China where he has lived and worked for over 20 years.  Following Lance’s retirement IMI’s Board will remain well balanced with a non-executive chairman, four non-executive directors and four executive directors.

Norman Askew, Chairman of IMI, said:
“I would like to thank Lance for his considerable contribution to the IMI Board.  His extensive knowledge and experience of China has been particularly helpful as the Group has grown its sales and manufacturing base in this market.  I am pleased that we will be able to continue to access Lance’s skills in this regard going forwards.”
