Environmental performance continues to improve across the IMI Group companies. By ensuring that responsible business issues are on the agenda at major business planning meetings, environmental and other responsible business considerations are, increasingly, a routine part of management decision making.
Our environmental performance reflects the principles and objectives set out in our corporate policies and priorities and includes:
- The efficient use of natural resources
- The use of environmentally sound resources
- The optimum use of recycled materials
- Regular investigations to identify ways of saving energy

Other highlights of our recent environmental performance include:
- Norgren's Farnham facility in the UK yielded a 33% saving in gas usage despite moving to a 24-hour operation and also reduced cardboard waste by 45% (14.5 tonnes).
- Cannon Equipment's installation of a new paint spray system at the Chattanooga plant in the USA has reduced overspray powder waste by 30 tonnes a year as well as reducing energy consumption and the use of aerosol touch-up paint.
- CCI sponsorship of an employee rideshare scheme at its plants around the world, aimed at reducing car journeys and hence fuel consumption, emission of greenhouse gases and air pollution.
- TA in Sweden has reduced the energy costs by 75% for space heating in its offices through the use of a property system supervising the whole premises of 35000 sq metres. The system controls the building's frequency controlled pumps and fans, as well as heat exchangers for waste heat using geothermally heated groundwater from twenty nine deep bored wells.
