We place great emphasis on community relationships at many levels. At corporate headquarters we continue our longstanding support for and work with local institutions of world class calibre, through our connection with the Birmingham Royal Ballet and we also maintain healthy relationships with local schools and other charitable bodies.
Many IMI graduate trainees and final year university students are involved in Company sponsored community programmes such as the initiatives to promote engineering to children.
Our graduate trainees also continue work begun in previous years with the environmental Ackers Trust. Community projects run by our trainees have included research in the USA into the cycle of abuse in abusive families. In the UK projects include: mentoring 16-25 year olds into the workplace in Farnham; improving public access to a nature reserve in Sandwell; the design and refurbishment of a therapeutic garden centre in Edgbaston; and working with a women and children’s project in Birmingham. Schools and other educational activities are a strong theme across many of the social and community programmes pursued by IMI businesses.
Our individual businesses also support a number of community initiatives appropriate for their sphere of operations. You can read about a selection of these in the Responsible Business section of our Annual Report.
You can also read about our charitable support projects within this website.
Our health and safety performance statistics are included within our Environment and Health & Safety Report for 2007.
