In striving to continually improve performance in Health and Safety by minimizing risk, all of our businesses share good practice and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). In addition a set of corporate health and safety requirements (titled IMI - Safety First, Safety Always) was launched in 2009. The objective of this priority is to ensure that we provide safe places of work through the avoidance of accidents and industrial illnesses.
We have recently set a new target to reduce our Lost Time Accident Rate (LTA) by a further 20% to not more than 0.22 by 2012. Our businesses aim to continually improve their approaches to managing health and safety and track their success by monitoring KPI data. Each business will develop local targets and action plans to assist with meeting these goals. The IMI LTA rate is published in the Performance section of this website and in our Annual Report. The Annual Report also includes details of the targeted LTA rate for the coming year.
