Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced, highly qualified and forward-thinking HSE Manager to strengthen our team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the company’s occupational safety specialist, providing expert guidance and hands‑on support to management, supervisors, and employees on all matters related to health, safety, and environmental protection. You will play a central part in shaping our safety culture by developing risk assessments, supporting internal changes, designing impactful training programs, and implementing key safety initiatives. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and develop the company’s HSE strategy together with the site’s senior leadership team by applying innovation, best‑practice standards, and supporting corporate sustainability goals
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and guidance to the site team
  • Develop and set goals and targets aligned with the business unit and group, and monitor organizational progress and performance
  • Act as the main point of contact for all HSE matters, internally and externally, and provide technical support as needed to effectively manage all HSE aspects
  • Support the development, implementation, and updating of HSE policies and procedures in line with the IMI HSE Framework
  • Lead contractor/subcontractor HSE management (qualification, onboarding, audits, toolbox talks) and ensure compliance with customer HSE requirements.
  • Support accident and incident investigations to drive continuous improvement of all processes
  • Prepare and implement appropriate KPIs to drive company and departmental HSE performance
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local legislation and communicate any changes to the management team
  • Lead all HSE‑related committees on site
  • Carry out and lead internal, external, customer, subcontractor, and regulatory risk assessments, audits, and inspections as required
  • Ensure an audit program is in place and communicated across the business in line with group, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure the availability of suitable materials, resources, and safety equipment required for effective compliance with HSE regulations across the business unit
  • Monitor industrial hygiene program 
  • Support HR with the HSE induction process during onboarding and with HSE training requirements throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Perform any additional duties relevant to the role as required or assigned

 

Critical Competencies for Success

  • University degree in Engineering/Health & Safety or Environment (Bachelor/Master/Diploma)
  • Completed two‑year qualification as a Certified Occupational Safety Specialist
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience occupational safety management systems (e.g., BS OHSAS 18001, SCC)
  • Working knowledge of German HSE legislation (e.g., ArbSchG, DGUV rules, BetrSichV, GefStoffV) and cooperation with authorities/BG.
  • 5+ years of experience in HSE/EHS in an industrial environment (manufacturing/engineering/plant-related)
  • Fluent German (C1) and very good English spoken and written
  • Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with digital HSE tools
  • Ideally additional training as a fire safety officer
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues
  • Analytical thinking, persuasiveness, and a proactive, solution‑oriented approach
