Role Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is primarily responsible for process development and optimization in CNC machining (vertical and horizontal machining centers) and secondary departments. The Technician will be responsible for programming CNC Machining Centers, implementing automation, quality integrity, fixture and tooling design, HSE, and continuous improvement to assist in achieving the operations goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Work Environment: Onsite in Plymouth, MN. Monday - Friday, some flexibility with daily work schedule. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between design engineering and production for all processes, tooling, documentation and programs used in the manufacturing of products both in production and new product development. Including but is not limited to:
    • Process development and deployment
    • Application of tooling for machining 
    • Machining and inspection tooling selection
    • Nonconformance investigation
    • Work instructions
    • Inspection documentation
  • Create and implement machining process specifications (tool cards). 
  • Utilize problem solving abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, and quality improvement through defect reduction.
  • Implement automation to reduce human involvement in repetitive tasks.
  • Addresses any “line down” events in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and coordinate the calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Critical Competencies for Success

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in a related field desired. 
  • 3-5 years related experience with demonstrated ability to improve processes and profitability in a machining environment.
  • Experience with machining processes.
  • CAM Experience Required
  • Experience using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with effective trouble shooting ability.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • MS Office experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience using ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Must speak, read, and write in English. 

Pay range: $30 - $40/hour.

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
