To comply with the China VI emission standard announced in 2018 and enforced from July 2021— Truck manufacturers faced significant challenges in reducing emissions from heavy-duty truck engines.

Our engineering team collaborated closely with customers to thoroughly understand their needs and pain points. We designed a tailored solution, conducted rigorous internal validation, and supported comprehensive customer field testing. As a result, our product successfully passed all stringent tests, enabling our customers to achieve China VI compliance on schedule.

A leading truck OEM faced several issues:

• Solenoids change states when you lose power to the solenoid (ignition turned off)

• Two solenoids required to provide a latching function (reduce space claim on the chassis)

With significant investments in battery electric vehicles (EVs), OEMs needed thermal management systems that could be easily integrated and adapted for different configurations.

The feedbacks from customers were clear: Legacy HVAC valves lacked the modularity and flexibility required for new vehicle architectures. Customers needed a solution that would allow them to experiment, integrate, and design more efficient thermal management systems without being constrained by rigid valve designs.

IMI responded by developing the Next Generation Thermal Management Valve:
