Role Overview:

The Master Production Planner / Scheduler reviews product demand and schedules the production on the assembly lines and the machine shop, to meet internal and external customer demand which includes make to order (internal and external), master schedule and make-to-stock orders. As product demand, component availability, and capacity availability changes, the Production Planner / Scheduler adjusts the schedule accordingly and communicates updated delivery information to all necessary. The Production Planner / Scheduler is a subject matter expert in Enterprise Resources Planning and Master Production Scheduling 

Work Environment: This is an on-site role in Palmer, MA.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review and analyze information within various modules (MRP, cycle counts, push-pull report, exception reports, etc) and release work orders to manufacturing (assembly lines / machine shop) in support of these requirements. 
  • Create and disseminate daily basket of work to be released for designated production areas based on component availability and finished goods delivery schedule. 
  • Coordinate, prioritize, schedule, and adjust work orders throughout the production cycle to meet internal and external requirements (assembly lines / machine shop). 
  • Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time and according to the production order and router (assembly lines / machine shop). 
  • Assists Production Supervisors and Leads in recording, tracking, and reporting on daily production. 
  • Evaluate, maintain and update our MRP system data and parameters; validate accuracy of production orders and report discrepancies to Master Planner Manager. 
  • Works with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to prioritize expedite requests and provide order completion status. 
  • Works with Warehouse Manager to monitor and plan inventory requirements and arrange any special delivery requirements. 
  • Ability to diagnose and solve inventory shortages and overages/excesses that are found during the kitting process and periodic cycle counts (assembly lines / machine shop). 
  • Coordinate and integrate all levels of production plans and schedules (assembly lines / machine shop). 
  • Partner with other parties (Purchasing, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, etc.) to ensure plans and schedules are accurately and comprehensively executed and achieved (assembly lines / machine shop). 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to establish and sustain a Lean culture on the planning and scheduling side. 
  • Act as a team player by supporting and contributing to others in a positive manner to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives.  Resolve grievances utilizing appropriate channels and in a professional manner. 
  • Follow all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements and safe work practices.
  • Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents and unsafe conditions.
  • Actively contribute to a positive HSE culture and continuous improvement.
  • Perform all other duties or projects as assigned. 

Critical Competencies for Success

Education and Experience 

  • High School degree or equivalent and 2+ years of prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably, low-volume, high-mix, discrete production and assembly. 
  • Four-year degree from an accredited institution in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain preferred. 
  • Understanding of inventory control, production, manufacturing, and scheduling principles. 
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills. 
  • Exceptionally organized with excellent project management, planning, and time management skills. 
  • Works effectively under pressure and with imperfect information

Computers and Technology 

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) 
  • Various MRP Systems 

Pay range: $85,000 - $98,000

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.

Pay range:  
The target salary for this role is $125,000-$150,000 annually. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to receive a variable incentive pay component.
