We want to make IMI a place where people of all genders can thrive and make a difference.

It’s why we work to empower women in our company, our industry and the communities we work in, so that they have the tools and support to realise their full potential. It’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone is equal and everyone has the same opportunities.

Diversity will be vitally important in driving the innovation, growth and success this business needs.

Celebrating equality with International Women’s Day

We’re proud to participate in International Women’s Day. It’s a chance for us to show our support for the women in our organisation and the wider world, and to better understand how we can make IMI a more inclusive environment.

In 2020, the International Women’s Day theme was #EachforEqual. It’s about every person taking individual action to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. And it’s a value we hope to instill across our company and in every employee – that together we can create a gender equal world.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we asked IMI employees from around the world what #EachforEqual means to them. Here’s what a few of them had to say.

To me, each for equal means a gender equal, diversified and inclusive work environment for both males and females from different cultures and backgrounds.

Clarice WuCorporate Accountant

Equality is really important to me – of the nine people in my team there are eight different nationalities and three women. It’s fantastic because we all look at the world in a different way, and we end up with better solutions because of the diversity in the team.

Phil CliftonDivisional Managing Director

For me, each for equal is about enabling everybody to bring their whole selves to work and to participate fully. This will lead to more engagement, increased collaboration, and better decision making.

Every employee is fundamentally important to our future success. And diversity will be vitally important in driving the innovation, growth and success this business needs.

Supporting women in engineering

We believe that our engineers have the ability to help shape the world around them. And we’re adamant that the world of engineering should be open to everyone.

That’s why we were excited to take part in this year’s International Women in Engineering Day, and to celebrate their theme of #shapetheworld.

The day is an important opportunity for businesses across our industry to raise the profile of women in engineering. And it was a great chance for us to have meaningful conversations with our people – to find out what shaping the world means to them.
