IMI has laid the foundation stone of an expanded production facility in Palézieux, Switzerland, as part of a major investment to increase manufacturing capacity and enhance operations for its Life Science offering.

The Palézieux site is home to production of IMI FAS precision components used in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies across global healthcare markets. The new expanded building will optimise production flows, expand industrial capacity and modernise the working environment at the site, while the Versoix site will continue to provide complementary development and engineering functions.

Healthcare is one of IMI's core growth megatrends. Ageing populations, rising clinical expectations and rapid advances in medical technology are driving sustained demand for the kind of precision fluid control components produced at the site. This investment supports IMI's response to that demand: a sustained investment in the manufacturing infrastructure and application engineering expertise needed to serve customers.

The ceremony was attended by Damien Givernet, General Manager, Kevin Curtin, Life Science President, IMI employees, representatives from the Commune d'Oron, and construction partner Alpenda.

Damien Givernet said: "This expansion project reflects our desire to invest sustainably in Switzerland, to strengthen our industrial capacities and to create the necessary conditions to support the growth of our activities, while offering our employees a modern and efficient working environment. By sustainably strengthening our main site, we are affirming our desire to be part of the local economic fabric in the long term, in close collaboration with the authorities, partners and regional stakeholders."

The enhanced site will strengthen IMI’s manufacturing presence in Switzerland and increase its capacity to innovate, develop and deliver advanced Life Science solutions for customers around the world.
