What helps people build long-term careers, keep learning and feel part of something bigger? At IMI, it starts with culture.
That approach has been recognised externally, with IMI receiving Silver awards for employee engagement and company culture, alongside a Bronze award for employer brand at the Brandon Hall Excellence Awards. The recognition provides independent validation of how culture, engagement and performance come together across IMI.
Development built into everyday working life
Here, development is not confined to formal programmes or defined career moments. It’s shaped by how people are supported, listened to, and trusted to grow.
Across IMI, we’ve built a values- led environment where colleagues feel connected to a shared purpose and empowered to contribute and thrive. Wellbeing, inclusion and growth are not treated as separate initiatives. They’re part of how teams work, how leaders lead and how decisions are made.
This creates the conditions where people can build skills, explore opportunities, and take ownership of their development, while contributing meaningfully to the growth of IMI.
A culture people experience, not just hear about
Our values, always care, be curious and create impact, guide how we show up for one another and for our customers.
We focus on culture as something people experience through everyday actions. Initiatives such as IMI Way Day, values recognition and consistent leadership behaviours help bring those values to life in practical ways, from learning and collaboration to recognition and volunteering.
The Brandon Hall evaluation highlighted how IMI embeds culture into everyday operations, balancing global consistency with local ownership and making values tangible through leadership, recognition and action.
Listening, learning and improving together
Listening plays a central role in how people develop and how culture evolves here.
Through the One Big Voice survey, colleagues share feedback and help shape priorities locally. Following the most recent survey, more than 430 improvement actions were logged globally. These actions are owned by teams, reinforcing a shared responsibility for improvement.
Judges recognised IMI’s engagement approach for its depth and maturity, particularly how colleague feedback through One Big Voice translates into visible action, strong participation and measurable outcomes across safety, retention and performance.
Listening to our people extends beyond the One Big Survey. In 2025, we introduced a HR Gemba walk initiative across our sites - building connection and creating opportunities for shop floor employees to ask questions, share feedback, and receive support.
We see the connection between engagement and results every day. When people feel heard and supported, they collaborate better, innovate more, and contribute to consistent performance for our customer.
An employer brand shaped by real experience
Our Unlock your Potential employer brand reflects what life at IMI genuinely feels like, shaped through co-creation and brought to life consistently across the employee journey.
This alignment between promise and experience was recognised by the Brandon Hall judges as a defining strength of our employee value proposition.
Looking ahead
We’re proud of this recognition, but it’s not a finish line.
We’ll continue to listen, learn and evolve, strengthening our culture through shared ownership and everyday action. For us, culture isn’t separate from performance. It’s what enables people to grow, ideas to flourish, and impact to be created, together, as One IMI.
