Early Careers Conference 2025: making AI your superpower
AI isn't just a tool - it’s a critical enabler of productivity, efficiency, and innovation. From automated technologies to improved customer outcomes through our own secure AI chatbot, AI is transforming the way we work at IMI.
Recently, over 40 graduates from across IMI came together in Gothenburg for the 2025 Early Careers Conference - a three-day event designed to explore how they can actively shape and influence AI adoption.
The future of AI at IMI
In a day exploring the potential of AI opened by our Chief People Officer, Liz Rose, and Chief Financial Officer Designate, Luke Grant, graduates explored where AI is heading - on both an internal and global scale. That view was brought to life through real-world examples of how AI is being used at IMI.
We were also joined by an external expert who introduced the group to the fundamentals of prompt design and practical ways to use generative AI creatively, strategically, and as a thought partner. The graduates then got hands-on, working in teams to develop use cases tailored to IMI’s needs - encouraging them to think like innovators and problem-solvers.
Connecting our history to creative innovations of the future
On day two, graduates explored how AI could be applied to real-world challenges - not in theory, but right at the heart of IMI’s operations at our Ljung production site and Customer Innovation Centre.
Born from our innovation engine, Growth Hub, the Customer Innovation Centre brings together production, customers, and advanced thinking - showcasing our latest Climate Control solutions and cutting-edge developments in HVAC technology. While there, the group explored tools like the TA-Ctrl-X, which enables diagnostics and monitoring of hydronic systems via smart devices, and saw the latest production technologies to aid manufacturing.
Local colleagues then pitched three real-life operational challenges and asked the graduates: how could AI help solve these? It was a hands-on opportunity to apply their learning, collaborate across disciplines, and see how emerging technologies like AI can unlock practical value for our business and customers.
Change through connection: becoming AI influencers
On the final day, two external coaches joined us to help the graduates build their skills as AI influencers across the business. Through practical coaching on listening, communication, and showing enthusiasm, the group developed the confidence and tools to advocate for innovation.
AI plays a key role in our digital transformation, helping us analyse vast amounts of data, understand customer sentiment, and prioritise improvements that make a real difference. By enabling smarter, faster, decisions, AI helps us reinforce our competitive edge and deliver even greater value for our customers.
The Early Careers Conference 2025 was more than a learning event - it was a launchpad for the next generation of leaders to shape the future of IMI.
