Life at IMI: Tracy Coleman
Employee Networks have the potential to educate, support and inspire. They’re spaces created by our people, for our people – empowering employees to share lived experiences, learn from one another, and inspire meaningful change.
For Executive Assistant to our Chief Executive, Tracy Coleman – connection and learning go hand in hand. As one of the founders of our Global Menopause Support Group and a strong advocate for learning and development, she is passionate about creating spaces where people can talk openly, learn from one another, and feel supported – both personally and professionally.
“In three words, we created the group for awareness, support and information. We wanted to use our lived experiences to help others navigate menopause in the best way possible, while raising awareness of what it means in the workplace. It’s a natural part of life for many people – but still too often seen as taboo.”
“People dip in and out based on their needs or the topic being discussed. The most fulfilling part is when someone says they feel more informed or reassured – that moment of realisation that nothing’s wrong, it’s just a natural experience. Within our group, we learn to embrace it, stay informed, and support one another.”
With the Global Menopause Support Group, Tracy has helped elevate awareness and understanding of menopause across IMI.
“One of the most meaningful contributions I’ve made is helping to highlight menopause and its importance in the workplace,” she says. “But I’ve also had the privilege of championing our Business Support development programme”.
“In both areas, I’ve received support from across the business, and it’s the culture and values at IMI that empower us to explore new ideas and improve the working environment.”
A natural advocate for development, Tracy believes courage and curiosity go hand in hand when it comes to growth.
“A former manager once told me, ‘Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone,’ and that message has stayed with me,” she reflects. “I’ve always felt grounded in the Business Support space, it’s familiar and secure – but seeing colleagues grow into specialist roles inspired me to push my own boundaries. Growth often begins with a little courage.”
The Business Support development offering has evolved significantly in recent years – from bite-sized information sessions to structured, skills-based training. Tracy played an active role in that journey.
“The learning experience really encouraged me to rethink my approach and look for ways to improve,” she says. “With the support of my managers, I took that further through formal training – and that opened up new opportunities for career growth.”
This year, Tracy was recognised with an always care award during IMI Way Day – a testament to the empathy, openness, and encouragement she brings to those around her. Her advice to others reflects that same spirit:
“If you’re passionate about something, pursue it. Opportunities are out there – you just need to seek them out. And at IMI, there’s a wealth of support to help you along the way.”
From supporting conversations about menopause to inspiring career development, Tracy embodies what it means to always care – helping people feel confident, capable, and empowered in their work and beyond.
